Florida Gulf Coast University celebrated the graduation of the Spring 2026 Class, the largest in its history. Discover the achievements, record-breaking figures, and most emotional moments of this significant event for Southwest Florida.
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) made history this month by celebrating the graduation of the Spring 2026 Class, the largest since the university's founding in 1997.

During five graduation ceremonies held on May 2 and 3, FGCU President Dr. Aysegul Timur awarded degrees to a record number of students who are now preparing to start a new professional and personal chapter.

Beyond the numbers, the weekend was filled with emotions, pride, and unforgettable moments for the graduates, their families, and friends. From traditional decorated caps to hugs, tears of happiness, and family celebrations, each ceremony reflected the spirit and perseverance that characterize the Eagles community.
The images and videos documenting this event were captured by FGCU veteran photographer James Greco, videographers Chris Noonan and Rob Salazar, student photographer Ava Schimitsch, and student videographer Connor Davis, who managed to preserve the energy and emotion of this historic weekend.

Additionally, three students from the FGCU R.I.S.E. program received certificates for successfully completing this innovative two-year program. R.I.S.E. (Real Independence through Successful Employment) is the first university program in Southwest Florida designed for adults with intellectual disabilities, helping them develop independence and meaningful employment opportunities.

Over 57,000 Degrees Awarded
Since opening its doors in fall 1997, Florida Gulf Coast University has awarded more than 57,000 degrees, establishing itself as one of the most important and fastest-growing educational institutions in Florida.
For the Class of 2026, graduation means much more than the culmination of years of study. It marks the beginning of new opportunities, careers, and dreams that are now starting to become reality.
At Latinos239, we congratulate all graduates, especially Hispanic students and their families, who through effort, sacrifice, and dedication continue building a brighter future for our community and Southwest Florida.
